Neumann KH 810 II AES67 – Subwoofer with DSP and AES67 Support
OVERVIEW
Powerful Bass Extension for Immersive Systems
The KH 810 II AES67 is designed to provide precise, powerful low-frequency reproduction in medium-sized monitoring rooms. Its next-generation acoustic design combines a long-throw 10-inch woofer with Extremely Linear Force Factor™ technology and intelligent protection limiters, achieving remarkably low distortion even when operating at maximum SPL. With bass reproduction extending down to 16 Hz and approximately twice the output of the KH 750 DSP, it is an ideal match for mid-sized Neumann monitors such as the KH 150 and KH 310. The rigid wooden cabinet, efficient front-ported bass reflex design and extremely low group delay contribute to tight, controlled bass with inaudible port noise.
DSP-Controlled Monitoring and MA 1 Integration
The KH 810 II AES67 incorporates powerful active DSP processing for precise system integration and can be calibrated using the MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment system, sold separately. MA 1 can automatically optimise both frequency response and phase across an entire stereo, surround or immersive monitoring system up to 7.1.4. Analog Neumann KH Line monitors, including the KH 120 A, KH 310 and KH 420, can be integrated alongside DSP-equipped monitors, with the optional MA 1 Multichannel Extension enabling room alignment of mixed analog and DSP-based systems. This makes the KH 810 II AES67 more than a conventional subwoofer: it can serve as the central bass-management and monitoring hub for upgrading an existing system or extending it into immersive audio.
Redundant AES67 Audio-over-IP Connectivity
The defining feature of the AES67 version is its fully redundant Audio-over-IP interface. Two network ports provide redundant AES67 connectivity with support for up to 12 channels of network audio, allowing the subwoofer to act as a central hub for a complete networked monitoring system. Network audio can be processed by the KH 810 II AES67 and distributed to up to 11 additional Neumann studio monitors through its analog and AES3 BNC outputs, with internal bass management handling the system configuration. It supports professional AoIP standards and technologies including SMPTE ST 2110, ST 2022-7 redundancy, RAVENNA, NMOS and AES67 streams generated by Dante® systems.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS
Deep, Powerful Bass Down to 16 Hz
The KH 810 II AES67 extends the monitoring system’s low-frequency response down to 16 Hz, providing substantial bass extension for critical music production, film scoring, broadcast, post-production, mixing and mastering applications.
Next-Generation 10-Inch Long-Throw Woofer
Its in-house designed 265 mm (10-inch) long-throw driver incorporates Extremely Linear Force Factor™ technology, a resonance-optimised basket and carefully controlled breakup modes. The result is exceptionally low harmonic distortion, reduced air noise and improved mechanical stability at high excursion levels.
Multichannel Bass Management up to 7.1.4
The integrated Bass Manager provides flexible multichannel signal management for stereo, surround and immersive monitoring systems up to 7.1.4, making the KH 810 II AES67 particularly suited to modern immersive production environments.
Fully Redundant AES67 Audio-over-IP
Two Fast Ethernet RJ-45 network ports provide physically redundant AES67 connectivity using ST 2022-7, with support for professional networked-audio standards including ST 2110 and RAVENNA.
Central AoIP Monitoring Hub
Up to 12 channels of network audio can be received by the KH 810 II AES67 and distributed through its analog and AES3 outputs to as many as 11 additional studio monitors, incorporating the subwoofer’s internal bass-management functions.
MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment
DSP processing allows the subwoofer and connected analog KH Line monitors to be automatically room-aligned with MA 1, including frequency-response optimisation and FIR-based phase linearisation.
Flexible Analog and Digital Connectivity
Alongside redundant AES67 networking, the KH 810 II AES67 provides electronically balanced XLR and Sub-D25 analog connectivity plus seven BNC AES3 outputs for multichannel digital monitor connections.
Precision Cabinet and Bass Reflex Design
The ultra-stiff wooden cabinet features excellent self-damping, minimal cabinet resonances, no internal standing-wave resonances and integrated rubber feet for acoustic isolation. The front-ported bass reflex system is engineered for tight bass reproduction with extremely low group delay and inaudible port noise.
Advanced Protection and Reliability
Soft clipping, peak limiting, woofer excursion protection and separate thermal protection for the voice coil, electronics and amplifier allow the system to deliver high performance while maintaining reliability and operational safety.
Efficient Universal Power Supply
The universal 100–240 V switched-mode power supply works worldwide and is designed to remain robust even with poor-quality mains supplies. An automatic Standby mode reduces power consumption when the subwoofer is not being used.
