The Wolff Audio Quad Tutti™ brings one of those designs into a modern four-channel, 1U rackmount format, giving engineers four identical channels of the legendary Sunset Sound Studio 1 microphone preamp in a single rack space.

Developed by Paul Wolff in collaboration with Paul Camarata, Quad Tutti is built around the original Tutti Camarata circuit, preserving the analogue design and sonic character that helped define the sound of countless classic recordings.

The original Tutti preamp became an integral part of the Sunset Sound Studio 1 console, giving engineers access to a distinctive combination of openness, authority, harmonic richness and musical depth.

Quad Tutti brings that same design philosophy into a contemporary studio format. Rather than simply taking inspiration from the original, the unit is built directly around the Tutti Camarata circuit, with original-spec Cinemag transformers and a fully analogue signal path.

The result is a preamp designed to capture transients with clarity, deliver substantial low-frequency weight without becoming muddy, and add musical character without excessive colouration.

Built Around the Original Tutti Camarata Circuit

The heart of Quad Tutti is its authentic Tutti Camarata microphone preamp circuit, developed from the original Sunset Sound Studio 1 design. This is the circuit responsible for the distinctive sound associated with the original console preamps.

The design was preserved and developed by Paul Wolff in collaboration with Paul Camarata, continuing the lineage of a circuit that has played a role in generations of professional recordings.

Original-Spec Cinemag Transformers

A crucial part of that heritage is the transformer. Quad Tutti uses original-spec Cinemag transformers, maintaining an important part of the signal path responsible for its characteristic response.

The transformers contribute to the preamp’s open top end, solid low-frequency authority and harmonically rich character, while maintaining the dynamic integrity and musical response expected from the Sunset Sound design.

Pure Analogue Signal Path

Quad Tutti keeps the signal path fully analogue, using premium-grade components throughout. There is no unnecessary processing or feature overload between the microphone and your recording system.

The result is a direct, purposeful signal path designed to preserve the character and dynamics of the source while providing the sonic personality associated with the original Studio 1 preamp.

Quad Tutti provides four XLR microphone inputs, four XLR outputs and a DB25 connection, giving engineers flexible options for integrating the preamp into a patchbay, interface or larger studio system.

The unit also incorporates front-panel microphone and instrument connectivity, making it practical for both permanent rack installations and more flexible tracking environments.

Straightforward Control, Serious Headroom

Each channel provides relay-switched input gain in 10 dB steps from 10 dB to 60 dB, alongside a continuously adjustable ±6 dB gain trim and output fader control.

Polarity reverse and no-pop 48 V phantom power are also provided, giving engineers the essential control needed for professional microphone preamplification without compromising the straightforward philosophy behind the design.

Quad Tutti packages four discrete channels into a standard 19-inch 1U rackmount chassis, making it an efficient addition to modern recording systems.

The front panel features a UV-printed design incorporating the Sunset motif beneath the Wolff Audio logo. Beyond its distinctive appearance, the UV-printing process is designed to provide a durable finish that resists the chipping and fading associated with conventional printed panels.
