Toft Audio Design

Develops and manufactures of Analog mixing consoles like the ATB series.

In 2001 PMI Audio Group®’s President and Founder Alan Hyatt hired Malcolm Toft to work for PMI Audio Group in its UK branch. Toft Audio Designs® was created by Alan Hyatt for two reasons. One was to manifest the classic British sound that was the main contributor to so many classic recordings, and two, to achieve this at an affordable price. Together Alan and Malcolm created many well respected products. The foundation for the Series ATB® Consoles comes from a long history based on the Trident Audio Developments® brand. Malcolm Toft was once the head engineer at Trident Audio Recording Studios in the UK, and was later put in charge of building a desk for the studio. The electronic designs made famous by Trident Audio were created by Barry Porter, and those designs were implemented into the layout of the console by Malcolm Toft. The ATB Console has much of the same character as the older Trident Series 80B®, and as PMI Audio Group® also owns Trident Audio Developments®, those circuits were used for the basis of the ATB® Console sound.

The linage of all this history is evident in the features and sonic representation of the console. Some of the best recordings in the world were done on a Trident such as The Beatles’ “Hey Jude”, David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” and James Taylors first album, and many more.

The same basic philosophy has been applied to the Toft Audio ATB Consoles…Hear one for yourself and relive the magic of pure analogue….
